The First International Conference on The Red Sea Ecosphere: Conservation and Management of Red Sea Marine Environment

Under the patronage of HRH Prince El-Hassan bin Talal, the Higher Council for Science and Technology in cooperation with the National Center for Innovation, ASEZA, Jordan University, and Yarmouk University will hold the first international scientific conference on “The Red Sea Ecosphere: Conservation and Management of Red Sea Marine Environment”, in the city of Aqaba during the period 4-6 November 2022, and this conference is sponsored by UNDP, Ayla Oasis, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, KEMAPCO Company and Jett Transport Company and is held in response to the proclamation of the United Nations General Assembly under the title“ a Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030)" It sheds light on the long-term environmental and developmental threats and pressures facing the Red Sea region, its resources, and the marine environment due to political developments, malpractices, and conflicts. Whereas tend intention that the Conference is to be held biennially and emphasizes the pivotal role of universities, research centers, and governmental and non-governmental organizations in studying and protecting the environment of the Red Sea.

A group of expert speakers and researchers concerned with marine sciences and the environment from the riparian countries of the Red Sea and from around the world will participate in the conference to discuss relevant issues in the Red Sea. Also, the opportunity was opened for researchers interested in various aspects of the Red Sea Ecosphere to send abstracts of working papers and research related to the topics discussed in the conference through the Jordan Open Innovation Platform (JOIP) until 5/9/2022.

Conference Objectives:

Introducing the biological diversity of the Red Sea and its environment and the latest developments in the field of scientific research and development at universities and related institutions in the field of marine biotechnology and sustainable ecotourism.
Exchanging information, experiences, and studies between universities and research centres contributing to establishing a common database among the Red Sea countries to help make decisions and confront environmental crises promptly to correct administrative decisions and reduce and prevent risks.
Focusing on the role of experts interested in science, technology, innovation, management, and others, as it works to spread the development and progress necessary to reduce disaster risks and the factors that lead to environmental pollution and inhibit the survival and growth of critical marine habitats such as coral reefs. It is also an opportunity for new researchers to contribute to the development of methods and methods of protecting it for the benefit of humanity.
