A delegation from Manchester University visited the Higher Council for Science and Technology. The aim of this visit was to explore future cooperation opportunities in light of the availability of funding opportunities through the Newton-Khalidi Fund and other funding sources.
His Excellency the Secretary-General Dr. Khaled Elshuraydeh presented a brief presentation on the vision and responsibilities of The Higher Council for Science and Technology, its affiliated centers and some of its initiatives, such as the Jordanian Scientists and Technologists Abroad (JoSTA) Network, the Newton - Khalidi Fund, Partnership for R&I in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA), focusing on the importance of international cooperation in general, His Excellency stressed the need for networking between academia and industry.
The cooperation of the Industrial Research and Development Fund which is affiliated to TheHigher Council for Science and Technology with its British counterpart, the Royal Academy of Engineering, was noted for the implementation of an Industry-Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) for three years under the Newton-Khalidi Fund.
In addition, the secretary General stressed the importance of finding innovative solutions that contribute to the growth of the Jordanian industry by developing the technological component and increasing the added value of local support through this cooperation. He also pointed out that this cooperation provides support to various Jordanian universities through building the capacity of its researchers and improving its R&D infrastructure. He affirmed the Higher Council's readiness to build more partnerships with the University of Manchester in fields of mutual interest.
