HRH Prince El Hassan confirms the importance of assessing the challenges facing water and energy in Jordan

On April 14th HRH Prince El Hassan, the chairman of the Higher Council for Science and Technology reiterated the need to build common understanding and complementary relationships and networking among scientists, researchers and policy makers in order to discuss and develop feasible solutions for vital issues and challenges facing water, energy, development, agriculture, and environment in arid and semiarid lands in Jordan. HRH’s call came at the inauguration of an international workshop which was held at the Hashemite University addressing sustainable development in arid and semi-arid regions.

HRH Prince El Hassan called for building active collaboration at the local, regional and international levels and developing a strategy in the fields of food production, agriculture, water, environment, socio-economic development, and sustainable development dealing with limited resources.

HRH emphasized that empowerment and rehabilitation through education and training will make the citizen a partner in shaping his/her future which is dependent on the capabilities and requirements and in maximizing the common benefits to society.
