The National Information Center for Science and Technology was established as the first information center in the Kingdom. It is one of the centers affiliated with the Higher Council for Science and Technology, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, President of the Higher Council for Science and Technology.
The center was established to develop an integrated national information system in cooperation with official entities and private sector institutions, as well as to assist in building a scientific and research information database that meets the goals of the Higher Council for Science and Technology in promoting scientific research, development, and innovation.
To achieve its objectives, the center seeks to carry out the following tasks:
Collecting data from various institutions, analyzing it, linking it, and presenting it through different means to maximize its benefit for decision-making.
Addressing data and information gaps in coordination with all data-producing and benefiting institutions to ensure the availability of the required information at the right time.
Building an integrated information system that connects all relevant institutions in the Kingdom through an electronic network, enabling decision-makers to set appropriate policies and plans and ensuring their efficient and effective implementation.
Developing the use of networked information exchange systems and facilitating information sharing within institutions, as well as supporting public participation in decision-making by empowering people to engage in and influence public policies.
Monitoring the contributions of Jordanian scientists abroad and tracking their research and scientific achievements to serve the goals of scientific research, development, and innovation.
Providing comprehensive information to help investors identify investment areas and opportunities in the Kingdom.
To achieve its goals and tasks institutionally, the center's strategy for the years 2022–2026 includes an action plan that is being implemented in phases according to national priorities and available technical and financial resources.
It is now time for the center to contribute to institutionalizing decision-making in the Kingdom and to assist in building and developing development plans while anticipating future prospects in line with societal priorities and with active participation from all stakeholders.
